NIHA members have been working to prepare the railway exhibition for the weekend.



Where? Newcastle Station
When? Friday 30 March
Why? .....

On 30 March 1857 the Governor of New South Wales Sir William Denison opened the new railway from Newcastle to Maitland and named it the Great Northern Railway. On 30 March 2007 at 10 am The Governor of NSW, Professor Marie Bashir will will join in the fun to celebrate GNR’s 150th anniversary.

At 11 am steam locomotive 3526 will leave Newcastle Station for Maitland Station to re-enact that historic journey followed by a brand new Hunter train.

On Saturday 31st March & Sunday 1st April from 10 am to 4 pm - ALL FREE


* “Tin Hare” rail motor rides between Newcastle and Civic Stations
* GNR-150 Train Show at Newcastle Station
* Explore Railway heritage in and around Newcastle Station
* GNR-150 Expo at Honeysuckle with schools exhibition
